3 hours after tea

Post by Tomo » Tue Aug 21, 2012 7:49 am

tides are late now so had to wait till 9 before i could play out. Picked up a nice half crown, another anchor token and a William 4th sixpence among the usual coppers. Also this solid heavy button but Cant find a match for it. It shows a gated castle with a man on horseback and a tallship.

Nice whatever it is. Still not sure why I can't pick up anywhere near as much stuff. Do your finds tend to be deep ? Do you dig all signals or only some ? Assume from the tides comment that you tend to detect on the wet ?

I would be interested to read how deep finds come out at the waters edge.
Am finding stuff in the dry sand top of beach but at the waters edge in the wet sand hardly gets a bleep so I'm thinking my machine can't go deep enough.

I dig, you dig, we dig, he digs, she digs, they dig. ......
...OK, It's not a beautiful poem, but it's very deep.

Hi Tommo,

an interesting button you have there. Is that a second guy, just behind the horse? Looks like someone on foot. Maybe it is the knigh'ts squire?

Well spotted Chris. There is indeed someone at the back but what he's up to I'm not sure

As I understand it; Firmins are still producing buttons. A quick email, with a pic, may get you an id.

Strange how you come across ID's of things years after youve found them. The button turns out to be Saint Martin of Tours, cutting his robe in half with his sword to give to a beggar :D
