Button info please.

Hi everyone, I found this button earlier today, it has ‘warranted’ on the back, plus other markings as you can see in the pics. I’ve looked it up and it appears to be American civil war 1800 ish? Is this correct? If so what’s it doing here? Or am i considerably’ wide of the mark? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks 👍

I think you're right - a bit like this one, which says the buttons were manufactured in the UK - possibly dropped from a consignment of buttons in transit?

Despite a Union blockade there was a great deal of British stuff smuggled to the Confederacy. :D

Fred - that made me want to read up a bit more on our involvement with the American Civil War - amongst many interesting facts this is one extract -

'The British elite tended to support the Confederacy, but ordinary people tended to support the United States, the Union or "the North". Large-scale trade continued between Britain and the US. The US shipped grain to Britain, and Britain sent manufactured items and munitions to the US. Immigration continued into the US, with many Britons volunteering for its army.'

The last sentence may have some relevance?
