Kessingland Beach

Post by tim657 »

Hi I'm new to this. I've purchased a low cost detector to start with. Looking for someone to join me on Kessingland/Lowestoft beach

Hi there and thanks for reply. I've bought the Amzdeal Lightweight for starters. Thought this would be good enough for starters and to see if I find I enjoy the hobby

Hi there, I know this is an old thread but I am new to the hobby and have just got my first metal detector (Garrett 300i). I live in Kessingland and have not detected the beach yet but plan to do so this week.

I've spent the last few days scanning the garden. I have about an acre of land so it's going to take a while. So far I've found some old coins, iron, silver buttons and an old well which was covered with iron sheets about 2 foot down in the lawn. I have only covered about 10% of the land but still keep finding new bits which I missed first time round. Still "getting the feel" of the machine but loving every minute.

Anyway, if you read this and are still detecting then send me a message and we could maybe meet up on Kessingland Beach sometime.

We have just moved to Gisleham. I am not very experienced even though I am a bit of an old relic myself but I was going to try to get permission to search land around this area.will try the beach too although I have a Garret ATPro and have detected on beaches in the USA and it did not seem to like the salt and minerals if I get to close to the waterline. Going to give Kessingland a try though once we get settled in.

I use to have a permission in Gisleham until the farmer retired (was my only one) Have tried that area a few times, it's tough! but good luck on the hunt.

Also Kessingland is not the best beach, full of aluminium blobs, but amongst it you'll pull out a fair few .303s. I tend to stick to Corton or Lowestoft beach as less aluminium.
