Explorer xs Upgrade to Nox 800?

Post by John32 » Tue Oct 08, 2019 9:51 pm

Hi people
I'm looking to upgrade my explorer xs which I've had for 15 years, the reason being is I feel that the recovery speed must have come on a long way in this time.
I've been doing plenty of research and think I'm going to stick with minelab as I love the tones they give and feel that the lurning curve would be not so great.
If I went for the Nox 800 do you think I would see a big difference in performance?
I have the X-1 Sunray probe with the explorer which I'm really gonna miss ""%* but was thinking of getting the XP MI-4 probe.
Any advice would be great before I splash out.
Thanks John ::g

One of the main reasons I got rid of my old Explorer was the slow recovery speed, the Equinox is now like a lot of competitors machines, you can run it with a fast recovery speed and it works well in iron, very un Minelab like in fact!

It's a big yes from me too. ::g
Regarding the pinpointer I had a MI-6 and hated it as a stand alone but it was awesome when paired to it's intended device. The Garrett carrot is awesome anyway but works brill with the Nox. ::g

Just to add to the pin-pointer choices, I rate highly the Garrett 'Pro-Pointer' which has served me exceptionally well for the last six years and continues to do so. Good Luck ::g Regards ss47

Thank you. This is all good stuff I think I will go with the Nox I'm a little worried about the battery long term and not being able to change it but guess I will worry about that if it happens.
Sounds like everyone thinks the carrot is the better pinpointer i'd just read that they don't last long but I suppose everyone product has some that go wrong.
Thank you for the input. ::g better get an order in. :D John

The Nox battery is in the handle grip and can be replaced. The Garrett AT pro pointer is very reliable. ::g
