Newbie - Cornwall

Post by Nuttma » Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:38 am

Hi Folks,
My name is Martin and I have recently moved from London to near mevagissey in Cornwall due to ill health.

I used to spend a lot of time on the Thames foreshore with a permit and really enjoyed my time there when my ilness would allow.

I have just brought a c scope 770 and hope to get a few hours out on Cornish beaches for some fun and exercise and any tips and help would be appreciated

Martin B-)

He, Martin.
Welcome to you from just up the road in Launceston.
Good variety of beaches for you over there, and if you manage to get out just after one of our famous On-shore Cornish storms, you will be amazed what is pushed up the beaches....
Have fun,
`steve

Thank you for the reply, I love the area around launceston, we lived just outside Altarnun for a while and loved it.

Are there any beaches over this was you would recommend, any help appreciated
Happy Hunting

I tend to go over to Blackrock (Bude) as it is close and also has a camp site adjacent to the beach, so I can take my van, surf, detect, beer, overnight, rinse and repeat :-)

The only beach I have been to on the South coast is Seaton - mixed results, quite a few modern coins on the main beach, predominately round the lifeguard station (once it had thinned out a bit!!) and a few odds and sods along the shoreline further down the beach. Mind you this was during a hot spell and looks like it could be quite productive after a heavy storm.....
