It can be a turn on and go machine with one exception. Iron bias. Till you get ‘into’ the machine it’s really the only setting that you need to adjust to discriminate iron out (or at least most of it)
As said above, have a read through some of the many questions that have been asked and answered in the Metal Detectors , Minelab - Equinox section, far left l;/

I’m sure you be OK with it, any if you get confused you only have to ask for help and you’ll get it.

Welcome and best of luck :D

p.s. forget the ETrack

hello, sorry to disappoint but for a first detector i would go for a more basic machine until you get to know all the jargon associated with the controls and what they do, while these detector do have a switch on and go setting like many high end detectors there is more to learn if you set any different, look at those for sale second hand bought by a beginner and found to complicated, even Tizabi mentioned starting with a basic detector, but its your money your choice, as for the shop quite typical if they know your a new starter to detecting, good luck

Hello andy1410 ::g Welcome aboard the forums and indeed to the hobby. I'm sure you'll be fine with your choice of machine. Taking note of the many recommendations you've no doubt already read in the Minelab/Equinox forum will serve you well in in the early stages. Don't worry about the complexities, they will fall into place naturally as a matter of course. ::g

Good Luck and enjoy your time with us on the's compulsory 8-|
