Newbie from Berkshire

Post by JohnnyG » Sun Apr 07, 2019 5:35 pm

Hello all,

My son (17) and I are keen to get into this hobby and would appreciate all tips and advice as we have no experience at all, we are based in the eastern end of Berkshire.
We are approaching this with the hope of finding historical artefacts particularly of a military nature. Where do we start?
Many thanks
John

Hi and welcome....

I would start by contacting Maidenhead detecting club, and see if they can get you out for a days detecting.
Next I would have a look through the rally section on this forum, as we are holding a beginners day, that would be worth you both attending.

Lastly, don't rush into buying detectors and associated paraphernalia before you find some land, join a club, or get to try some detectors to find what you like.

And ask loads of questions, help is free. ::g

Thank you BM, will definitely contact Maidenhead and have a look at the rally you have suggested before investing vast amounts of money!

Hi and welcome to the forum. Plenty of advice on here. Firstly get some permissions from land owners to detect on their land and start digging and the finds will come. Good luck and may the gods grant you many finds ::g
