I'm John, ex UK but now living in Malopolskie, Southern Poland. I moved here a few years ago, bought a metal detector (because of the history here) found a bunch of bullets and odd stuff (including two 7 kilo shells from WW1 ) and of course have since found it is illegal to dig anything.
So, I'm out of luck, unless I can find someone living here who can guide me in some sort of direction!
Happy digging to the rest of you!
In Poland it is not funny now with metal detecting.

That just one of examples.
If you are metal detecing (looking for antiques in goverment opinion) without permission of WKZ -(I would translate it as County Antiques Restorer) you could be jailed for 2 years.
They do not care if you have permission from landlord; that land belongs to you or you just lost your keys and trying to find them.
Everything below the ground belongs to goverment that is the rule.
My friends in Poland even stopped to use their land for planting potatoes - they said that one day police will come and dig out potatoes and take it away because "whatever is below the ground belongs to goverment"

It seems the Old Communist Russian Influence still reigns supreme there.
