Just found and joined here in a hope to learn and eventually share.
We are totally new to this and do not own a metal detector.
Currently looking around and seeing what we need to get us going.
We have not set a budget yet as totally lost on what equipment is the best value.

Welcome to this excellent resource . Before you consider what equipment to outlay your hard earned cash on, have a good look at the various sections of the site, in particular the Beginner's Guide and the Permissions forum.
There are many very experienced people here who will help you with any questions you may have.

I think the major thing to consider before buying a metal detector is where are you going to use it. All land is owned by someone and you need permission to search on it. Many beaches can be detected without a problem others are restricted because of private ownership, wildlife habitats or other restrictions.
Permission to detect is one of the hurdles that trip up many a budding detectorist as they start out, get over that hurdle and you are away
