Depends if you want a traditional "bricks and mortar" club that has meetings, speakers etc with a bunch of regulars.

Or........ a "social media cash club" of which there are a plethora.....that will take anyone on a dig as long as they pay.
Opinions expressed on MY posts are mine and NOT those of any democratic organisation I volunteer for. ::g

Hi Merneo and welcome.

As JC says above, it does depend what you are seeking. There are 'traditional' clubs in the areas you mention, but often with waiting lists. Some clubs offer the all singing/dancing speakers, club land etc - others are small and involve monthly meetings in a pub, but don't guarantee land. We are a small club on the South Cambs/Essex borders, so probably a bit out of your range (although we have members from Beds). Club forum, monthly meets where we look at finds etc, detecting chat and a LOT of banter. No club land, but we have very occasional digs on a member's permission.

If you are primarily seeking a place to detect, there are a number of pay-to-dig 'groups' in the areas you mention. Some are more ethical than others. There are also a number of well-organised traditional rallies if you don't mind travelling.

Good luck in finding somewhere.

Hello Paul ::g You've already had some very sound ideas and advice above. I'd just like to suggest another potential for your consideration and that is, the often publicised 'genuine' charity events that are held throughout the detecting season, some of which, are notified on this forum:- 2019 Rallies Listing

You will perhaps be aware, that organisers invariably require Rally attendees, to be in possession of valid membership of either NCMD or FID.
Good Luck - Regards ss47 ::g

Hi Paul.
I'm also looking for a club or group of detectorist to join but all the clubs I've seen locally are not taking new members. Have you thought about maybe starting a club or getting a little group of detectorist together to go out on digs together and maybe meet up once a month in a pub to discuss finds and stories and share knowledge on the hobby. I've just got into the hobby and I'm looking for people to go out on digs with. Let me know if you have any thoughts on the idea as I'd like to get involved with a group in the Herts beds and bucks area.

I don't know of a definitive list of current clubs Paul. Some are listed under 'Clubs' on this forum, and there is a list here: http://www.ukdetectornet.co.uk/clubs.html I would suspect that, because clubs come and go or fail to update listings over time, trying to offer a definitive current list would be difficult. Just a case of a spin around Google.
