Your machine is absolutely fine sir, in fact any machine would be welcomed theredetecting rod wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 9:54 amwill my garret 300i be ok for this and will there be people about to advise a newbie on the day ?
Hopefully someone with the same machine will also be there, if not there will be basic and general and advanced detecting knowledge by the bucket load, which will keep you busy all day

Re: Hamsey Old Church - Sussex - Charity Rally 18th August
Hi Liam, I would love to come along. I'm usually a 'lone wolf' so this would be my first organised rally/dig, so may be a bit nervous!! I was born and grew up within 5 miles of this area and my parents are still there, I'm still fairly local so it has persuaded me to go for it!
If you would put my name down for it that would be great?!

I've done the 'buckle boogie', the 'musket-ball mambo' and even the 'silver shuffle', but sadly still no 'gold dance'. You're really gonna know it when you see it though!

I have a 300i and I'll be there, I'm not the king of metal detectorists but I can help you out with the basics and settings if you need it.detecting rod wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 9:54 amwill my garret 300i be ok for this and will there be people about to advise a newbie on the day ?

oooooh you temptress. "This time round we have 31 acres in three fields of UNDETECTED LAND off the beaten track, surrounded by woods, absolutely beautiful setting"
And does that include the interesting big sandy coloured field(s)?

I will confirm asap, I stood in one spot with all three fields in view around me and now I cannot reconcile that with the map

Plenty of spaces left, 31+ acres to play around in, Liam

Re: Sussex - Charity Rally 18th August 65 acres of UNDETECTED cut meadow
Hi Liam - Cheers for the map, I went to School in Chailey, so I'm excited to revisit my old stomping ground! Just wondering if that's the full extent of the area? By my reckoning the red lined bit is coming in at around 28 acres...Not a problem with me, as that's still loads, and my calcs may be off, just checking!

Re: Sussex - Charity Rally 18th August 65 acres of UNDETECTED cut meadow
Thanks and I have had a chat with the farmer re the acreage. The original 65 acres was mooted as covering all of the land he controls, but at present we have 31 acres of land, though he is now also hoping to prepare more land for us, either his own or neighbours.
I will keep the topic open for food orders and a waiting list. Some will detect for an hour or so and be happy to do some supportive work in organising the event, others will need to be dragged off in chains in total darkness
If anyone wants to attend, in anticipation of more land coming through then just add your name here
Thanks, Liam

Re: Sussex - Charity Rally 18th August UNDETECTED cut meadow
Still some places left on this event, weather looks very promising
We will have at least an acre each and hopefully more if the farmer can get some from the neighbours. Every penny goes to a really good charity, Liam

Re: Sussex - Charity Rally 18th August UNDETECTED cut meadow
In that case put me down for a bacon bap on arrival. Onglet de boeuf washed down with a glass of Petrus for lunch and a cream tea with home made scones for mid afternoon. A tenner sound reasonable?

Bacon bap on arrival please, (and lunch if Tamsyn is doing lunch time to).
Tamsyn did a good job with the food last time, so sure it will be up to standard again.

Hi Liam,
if there are sausage baps available in the morning I will take one please. Failing that-bacon would be grand!
